The SAL Boot Program
Squadron 25 operates a direct Veterans assistance program called “The Boot Program”, this assistance program is a phenomenal way to serve Veterans and their families while allowing Squadron 25 the opportunity to meet members of the Community while displaying a positive presence and sharing information to the Public so no Veteran in need goes unheard. How this works is: members of the Guy Rathbun Squadron 25 will take a combat boot out into the Community of Cowlitz County and set up a booth/station joined by Post family members from the other pillars of the American Legion Post 25.
At this booth, a combat boot is on display alongside pamphlets and other information regarding the pillars of The American Legion. This booth, partnered with the usual presence of motorcycles and Post family members usually draws quite the crowd as interested members of the Community will typically stop by, ask questions, and donate to the boot if able. All donations collected during The Boot Program go into an account used only for the sole purpose of assisting a Veteran in need when requested. It is the mission and duty of The Sons of The American Legion “To enhance the well-being of America’s Veterans, their Families, our Military and our Communities by our devotion to Mutual Helpfulness” and The Boot Program perfectly exemplifies that Mission.
